Honda ADV 150 gets new colors in Indonesia
Honda announced new colors for its small capacity adventurous scooter, ADV 150. Now, there is Tough Matte Black Gold, Tough White Gold and Advance White Black, in addition to the existing Advance Red, Tough Matte Black, Tough Red and Tough Matte Brown.
Despite the new colors, the Honda ADV 150 remains the same, with a 150 cc engine and CVT gearbox. But, don’t fool yourself, this ‘little’ adventurous scooter has embedded a lot of technology, as we will see below.
The Tough Matte Black Gold color option is a mix of matte black with some silver on the sides, and golden wheels. The option Tough White Gold just changes the matte black for white. The third new option, Advance White Black, is mainly white with black, and red with black graphics, but with black wheels.
How is Honda ADV 150
Firstly, for someone reading this article outside Asia, the Honda ADV 150 was launched in Indonesia and arrives to be the ‘entrance door’ in this new category of scooters, with capacity to overcome some obstacles.
The aggressive and futuristic design is based entirely on the larger capacity and ‘sister’, X-ADV (750 cc), with well-defined angles. It has horizontal double headlights with LED lines on the sides for daytime lighting (DRL) and a very upright riding position.
The focus of this new scooter is the use in the city, facing the pitted asphalt, bumps and ditches. But, it is possible to face dirt roads and overcome some light obstacles.
This is evidenced by the dual purpose tires, measuring 110 / 80-14 at the front and 130 / 70-13 at the rear, and with the acceptable 165 mm of ground clearance (the Honda PCX, for example, has only 137 mm).
In addition, the suspensions also do the trick, being the motorcycle type at the front and two shock absorbers with external gas reservoir at the rear (from the renowned Showa brand, also known as Twin Subtank Rear Suspension).
More items commonly used on motorcycles on this scooter are the tapered handlebars and the rear fender.
An unprecedented item on a 150 cc scooter is the large adjustable windshield, which is easily operated and can be adjusted on two levels.
Engine and Technology
The Honda ADV 150 has a 150 cm³ single cylinder engine with liquid cooling, capable of generating up to 10,7 kW (14,5 HP) of maximum power at 8.500 rpm and 13,8 Nm (1,34 kgf.m) of torque at 6,500 rpm. It is also equipped with the ‘Idling Stop’ system, which switches the scooter off at traffic lights to save fuel.
The gearbox is automatic V-MATIC (CVT), the fuel tank capacity is 8 liters, the seat height is 795 mm and the dry weight is only 127 kg (Curb Weight is 133 kg for the ABS version).
It has a 240mm brake disc at the front with ABS and 220mm at the rear. In addition, all lighting is LED (headlamps, flashlights and turn signals), even having warning lights.
Other highlights of the model are: fully digital LCD panel (inspired by the X-ADV), space under the seat with 28 liters of capacity, ‘Smart Key’ system for starting without a key, alarm system and 12V socket.
