With Africa Twin look, 2022 Honda CRF190L is launched in China

Honda launched in China the new 2022 CRF190L, its low-displacement adventurer motorcycle, that arrives with a look reminiscent of the CRF1100L Africa Twin.

The new model has a ‘rally’ design, with a very vertical windshield and a tall, flat and narrow seat. The ‘footprint’ is off-road and very similar to the Honda XRE 190 sold in some markets.

In China, Honda already sells a low-displacement crossover/adventurous model, the CBF190X, but it’s more urban with some adventurous capabilities.

The 2022 Honda CRF190L, on the other hand, is a model focused more on off-road and which, according to preliminary information, has 241 mm of ground clearance, ie, the same as the XRE 190.

We believe it is, in fact, based on the XRE 190, in an Africa Twin guise. Wheels are spoked 19-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear, equipped with dual purpose tires. Like the XRE 190, it has ABS brake system on the front wheel.

In terms of technology, the CRF190L has a fully digital LCD panel with complete information, and Full-LED lighting, that is, headlights, flashlights and turn signals have this technology.

The engine is a 184.4 cm³ single cylinder with air cooling and electronic fuel injection, capable of generating up to 11.55 kW (15.6 HP) of maximum power at 8500 rpm, and 15.75 Nm (1.58 kgfm) of torque at 6000 rpm.

Anyway, there is no forecast for the sale of this model outside China. So, would you like this new bike in your country?

  • Looks like a fun little bike… BUT… “In terms of technology, the CRF190L has a fully digital LCD panel with complete information, and Full-LED lighting, that is, headlights, flashlights and turn signals have this technology” and the all spoiled by a rear drum brake. Why on earth would they do that?
