Triumph launches Tiger Sport 660: middleweight adventure bike for everyday

Triumph has launched the new 2022 Tiger Sport 660, its new entry-level middleweight sports adventurer bike in the brand’s Tiger lineup. It arrives with a new triple engine, packed with class-leading technology and agile and comfortable handling.

Design

The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 features a new sculpted fairing for clean and fluid lines, dual headlights, short tail and minimalist tail light. Plus, it features additional premium details that include the ‘teardrop shaped’ mirrors, radiator caps, fork protectors and minimalist stainless steel silencer.

There are three color options: Lucerne Blue and Sapphire Black, Korosi Red and Graphite with sports graphics, and Graphite and Black.

As per the brand, the new Tiger Sport 660 offers the capability, performance, handling and style needed to introduce a new generation of riders to the Triumph brand. It was designed to set a new standard for performance, specifications and cost of ownership.

Engine, gearbox and chassis

The Tiger Sport 660 engine is the new 3-cylinder 660 cm³, with 4-valve and liquid-cooled, capable of generating up to 81 HP (59.6 kW) of maximum power at 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm (6.5 kgfm) of torque at 6,250 rpm. It is designed to deliver maximum performance in everyday use conditions, with linear power and torque delivery.

In addition, the gearbox is 6-speed with assist and slipper clutch. It also has Triumph Shift Assist (quickshifter), sold as an accessory.

According to the company, the suspension was carefully developed to offer all of Triumph’s renowned handling advantages, with a sporty feeling when riding alone, while offering all the comfort for longer trips and when riding with a pillion.

At the front, the Tiger Sport 660 features a 41mm USD Showa forks, and at the rear, Showa monoshock suspension with remote hydraulic preload adjustment.

The 17″ and 5-spoke wheels are made of light cast aluminum, equipped with Michelin Road 5 tires. In terms of braking, it has a double 310 mm brake disc at the front with Nissin 2-piston sliding calipers and ABS system.

Technology

Like the Trident 660, the new Tiger Sport 660 arrives with cutting edge technology, with premium brand components, usually present in larger and luxurious motorcycles.

It comes standard equipped with three premium features: two riding modes (Road and Rain), switchable traction control (which can be turned off completely) and ‘ride-by-wire’ throttle system.

“Road” and “Rain” riding modes increase rider confidence, control and safety through electronic throttle map adjustment and traction control.

Furthermore, it brings Full-LED lighting, that is, headlights, flashlights and turn signals rely on this technology. The instrument panel is digital in color TFT, with a lower rectangle and an upper semicircle, with Smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn GPS navigation, GoPro control, and phone and music interaction.

Availability and price

Finally, the 2022 Triumph Sport 660 is now available in stores across Europe. The price for UK is £8,450.00 (approximately US $11,525).
