Honda launches CB200X in India, an adventurous motorcycle based on Hornet 2.0
Honda launched in India the new CB200X, its adventurous 184cc crossover motorcycle, based on the ‘naked’ Hornet 2.0, to fight in the small-displacement adventurers segment.
The CB200X is an ideal motorcycle for day-to-day use, as it allows proper use in the city, and weekend getaways, facing dirt and gravel roads.
The main highlights of the new bike are: upright and comfortable riding position, high and wide handlebars, aerodynamic windshield, handguards with integrated turn signals, and dual purpose tires.
Design
The Honda CB200X has a very aggressive design, with muscular lines and well defined angles. There is good protection with fairings, and the sides resemble those of the CB500X model.
The riding position, as mentioned, is upright, achieved with a tall, wide handlebar. The seating is sporty, on two levels. Despite this, the company says it is comfortable during long trips.
Another highlight in the design is the presence of hand protectors (Knuckle Covers), which have built-in LED indicators, which make the bike look even more adventurous.
Finally, the design is complemented with windshield (the company says it’s tall), under cowl, gold inverted front suspension and 5Y-shaped alloy wheels.
Engine and gearbox
The engine of the 2022 Honda CB200X is the same as the ‘naked’ Hornet 2.0, that is, a 184.4 cm³ single cylinder, air cooled and with electronic fuel injection PGM-FI, capable of generating up to 12.7kW (17 HP) of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 16.1Nm (1.62 kgfm) of torque at 6,000 rpm.
According to the company, the PGM-Fi system uses built-in sensors to constantly inject optimal fuel and air mixture to deliver greater performance and superior efficiency.
In addition, ensuring smooth energy delivery, the roller rocker arm helps reduce friction losses. The engine is also equipped with a piston cooling jet that acts as an ash absorber, improving the engine’s thermal efficiency.
Finally, the gearshift is 5 speeds and the final transmission is by chain.
Chassis
The Honda CB200X has a traditional diamond-type chassis, which guarantees excellent stability and agile handling. The front suspension has a golden inverted fork and a monoshock rear suspension.
In terms of braking, it is equipped with disc brakes on both axles, the front one with 1-channel ABS, ensuring efficient braking control on a wide variety of roads.
In addition, the wheels are 17″ alloy, and the dual purpose tires have the following dimensions: 110/70-17 at the front and 140/70-17 at the rear. The dry weight is 135 kg and capacity of the fuel tank is 12 liters.
Technology
Honda CB200X has a fully digital LCD panel, with advanced features such as gear position indicator, digital clock, maintenance indicator and voltmeter.
In addition, it has Full-LED lighting, that is, headlights, flashlights and turn signals have this technology.
Price and colors
The new CB200X will be available in three colors: Pearl Nightstar Black, Matte Selene Silver Metallic and Sports Red. The price is Rs. 1,44,500 (ex-showroom Gurugram). Starting today, Honda has opened the bookings for CB200X at its authorized dealership network across India.
The new motorcycle will start arriving at Honda 2Wheeler network from September 2021.
