Ducati launches new 2023 Diavel V4 with 168 hp: 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds
Ducati has launched the new 2023 Diavel V4, its iconic ‘muscle cruiser’ motorcycle, which comes with the powerful and compact V4 Granturismo engine (which also equips the Multistrada V4), to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less of 3 seconds.
With a characteristic design of the Diavel line, that is, muscular, sporty and exaggerated, the Diavel V4 arrives to meet the desires of different motorcyclists, from sports bike enthusiasts, but looking for comfort and elegance, to lovers of performance and drag racing.
For this, the model has a 1,158 cm³ V4 Granturismo engine that is capable of generating up to 168 hp (124 kW) of maximum power at 10,750 rpm, and a ‘monstrous’ 126 Nm (12.8 kgfm) of torque at 7,500 rpm. It is derived from the Desmosedici Stradale that equips the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4, and has technology that shuts off 2 cylinders to save fuel, not only when the vehicle is stationary, but also when riding at low rpm under reduced engine load.
In addition, with the new engine, a new dedicated exhaust system was required with 4 stylish tailpipes positioned on the right side. This system produces a deep bass sound when only 2 cylinders are in operation, and a higher sound when all 4 cylinders are working.
Lighter, faster and more equipped
The new Ducati Diavel V4 is lighter and faster than the Diavel 1260 S. According to the company, it is 13 kg lighter (5 kg in the engine and 8 kg in the vehicle) which, together with the more powerful engine and the huge rear tire (240/45), allow the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.
Accelerating fast is very good, but braking well is necessary. That’s why the Diavel V4 has a 330 mm double front brake discs and Brembo Stylema calipers, which guarantee record performance, with deceleration values of up to 11.5 m/s², that is, a value that usually features racing motorcycles.
In addition, the rider can count on a package of first-rate electronic equipment, which includes 3 Power Modes, 4 Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban and Wet), Cornering Traction Control (DTC), Cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control, Cruise Control, Launch Control and Ducati Quick Shift up/down, among others.
In terms of design, the Diavel V4 has gained a signature of its own, with huge air intakes on the sides of the fuel tank, shape-shifting front DRL, with double C profile, and tail light cluster with several LED points positioned under the tail. By the way, the lighting is Full-LED.
Finally, the model has a new 5-inch color TFT panel, which also offers Bluetooth connectivity to pair the smartphone and use it for calls, text messages and music, or use the turn-by-turn GPS navigation system (available as an accessory) via the Ducati Link app.
Finally, the new 2023 Ducati Diavel V4 hits stores in Europe from January 2023 (February in the US) in Ducati Red and Thrilling Black.
