Triumph buys OSET Bikes, maker of Trial and off-road electric motorcycles

Triumph has announced the acquisition of OSET Bikes, a manufacturer of Trial, Off-road and Motocross electric motorcycles, which produces vehicles for both children and adults.

This is another step by the British company in the off-road world, before the launch of the Motocross and Enduro range. So far, the company has ‘naked’, adventurous and classic models.

Thus, this is also another step by the company in the electric segment, as it is developing a high-performance electric motorcycle, with the TE-1 prototype having carried out the last tests satisfactorily.

Started in 2004 by Ian Smith, who wanted to build an electric off-road motorcycle for his son Oliver, OSET has been setting the benchmark in its segment for the past 18 years. It has sold over 40,000 motorcycles worldwide with its in-house developed electric technology.

The acquisition of OSET is part of Triumph’s strategy to enter the off-road segment, announced in 2020, and offers both companies the opportunity to share and benefit from each other’s knowledge and experience in their respective segments, allowing two brands to grow internationally in parallel.

Triumph’s For The Ride philosophy played an important role in the acquisition of OSET as it allows the traditional brand based in Hinckley, England to inspire future generations of riders by providing them with the perfect starting point to develop their passion and dreams. OSET Bikes offers products suitable for any rider, from 3 years old.

“We are excited about the opportunity to join forces with OSET Bikes: a dynamic brand that has been encouraging kids to get involved in motorcycling for many years and has been at the forefront of developing electric motorcycles for fun and competition. While the two brands will continue to work independently, Triumph and OSET will collaborate on new, state-of-the-art products to inspire young off-road riders, in all segments where Triumph and OSET will be present, building on their respective strengths. strong to build the best motorcycles in the world,” says Nick Bloor, CEO of Triumph.

“When we built that first garage motorcycle for my son Oliver, I had no idea it would lead to this moment. We are all very excited about what the future holds for OSET as part of the Triumph family. The OSET brand will remain OSET and will continue to serve the off-road testing and motorcycling community. We are now better positioned to develop and innovate across our entire range, while enjoying the security of scale and market position that Triumph can bring to OSET,” explains Ian Smith, CEO of OSET Bikes.
