BMW launches low-displacement sportbike in India, the G 310 RR

BMW Motorrad has launched its first low-displacement sportbike in India, the G 310 RR, which is the gateway to the BMW sports world.

The model is a German version of the Apache RR 310, developed and produced together with TVS Motor, one of the main motorcycle brands in India, owner of the Apache line, with models from 160cc to 310cc.

Both the G 310 RR and Apache RR 310 are based on the ‘naked’ G 310 R, with the same chassis, suspension and engine. Of course, some items may have received adjustments, allowing for a more sporty feel.

Incidentally, BMW makes clear the intent of this new bike: “The G 310 RR clearly carries the genes of the S 1000 RR and is designed to help you reveal your racing attitude.”

At the time of publishing this article, the company had not yet released the technical specifications of the model. On the company’s website, there was only one page accepting bookings through a registration.

But, as it is based on the G 310 R, we can risk that the power and torque will be the same, that is, it will have a 313 cm³ liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, capable of generating up to 34 hp (25 kW) of maximum power and 2 .8 kgfm (28 Nm) of torque.

With these numbers, and if there is no specific adjustment, the top speed of the model can be 165 km/h on the panel, which would put it a step below other entry sports bike, such as the Yamaha R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 400, for example, which can reach 190 km/h.

Anyway, we have to wait for more information, but for those who are passionate about the brand, like sportbikes, but still don’t have the pocket stuff to go out with an S 1000 RR, the new G 310 RR is the ideal model.

For now, there is no information on whether it will be sold in other countries, but the trend is that it will, as both the G 310 R and the G 310 GS were launched first in India and then won the world.
