KTM may be working on a new version of the 390 Adventure, its 390cc adventure bike. The prototype was spotted testing in Austria and will apparently feature a new frame, new rear swingarm and larger wheels for improved off-road performance.

According to the images, the model features a new steel trellis frame and a new aluminum rear swingarm, which provide more space for a longer suspension and also a higher ground clearance.

In addition, the bike appears to be equipped with 21″ spoked wheels at the front and 18″ at the rear, quite different from the current 19″ and 17″ on the 390 Adventure.

Being able to receive the name 390 Adventure R or be an entry model of the brand’s Enduro line, the prototype also has off-road tires, showing all its vocation for the off-road adventures.

Anyway, KTM’s new 390cc off-road adventurer bike seems to be in an early stage of development and, if confirmed, should only hit the market in 2023.

How is the KTM 390 ADVENTURE

The entry-level adventurer KTM 390 ADVENTURE uses the base of the “naked” 390 Duke, but has specific adjustments and parts for off-road. Suspensions, for example, are specific, has a long-travel, and are fully adjustable at the front. The tires are for dual use (on and off-road) and the seat is wide and comfortable.

Despite using the base of “naked”, the design is similar to the biggest adventurers of the brand like the 790 Adventure, for example. The LED headlight and the windshield are in an identical position to the 790. The chassis is similar to that of the KTM 450 Rally, an ultra-light steel trellis type.

The small windshield is height-adjustable, and a larger windshield is sold as an accessory, as well as side cases and hand guards, among others.

In addition, the KTM 390 ADVENTURE is equipped with ABS, Traction Control and BYBRE brake calipers (from the Brembo group).
