2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 gets new front design, LED and traction control

Kawasaki launched in Europe and in the US the 2022 Versys 650, its 650cc adventurer motorcycle, which arrives with a new front design, LED lighting, color TFT panel and KTRC traction control.

For 2022, Versys has a new front fairing design, similar to its bigger ‘sister’, the Versys 1000, with well-defined angles. The front part is complemented by the new windshield with four adjustment positions, plus an even larger one, sold as an option.

In addition, the new 2022 Versys 650 comes with Full-LED lighting, that is, headlights, flashlights and turn signals have this technology. The instrument panel is now 4.3″ all digital color TFT, with connection to Smartphone via Bluetooth.

Finally, in terms of safety, it gained KTRC traction control, in addition to two selectable riding modes.

For 2022, the available colors are: Metallic spark black/metallic flat spark black, Metallic phantom silver/metallic flat spark black/metallic spark black, and Candy lime green/metallic flat spark/ metallic spark black.

How is the Versys 650

The Versys 650 is a versatile adventurer bike, designed more for urban and road use. It features a long travel suspension, upright riding position, and an adjustable windshield that enhances comfort.

With this, it is also possible to face dirt roads, as long as it is something light, without many holes or undulations, because the wheels are 17″ aluminium alloy.

It’s powered by a compact 649cc two-cylinder parallel engine, which is tuned to deliver power and fast acceleration, especially in the low to medium rev range.

Furthermore, for 2022 there remains the convenience of the ‘Edition’ models, which come pre-equipped with a variety of original accessories: Urban, Tourer, Tourer Plus and Grand Tourer are available.

Engine and technology

The 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 comes with a 2-cylinder, 649 cm³ liquid-cooled engine, capable of generating up to 49 kW (67 HP) of maximum power and 61 Nm (6.2 kgfm) of torque. There is a limited power version, with 35 kW of maximum power.

The transmission is 6-speed with assist and slipper clutch, the dry weight is 198 kg and the fuel tank capacity is 21 liters.

Finally, it features ABS brake system, dual throttle valves, economical riding indicator and Smartphone connection in order to access Kawasaki’s ‘Rideology App’.
