2023 Yamaha FZ-X gets Traction Control, LED flashers and new color in India
Yamaha launched in India the 2023 FZ-X, its 150cc ‘neo-retro crossover’ bike, which arrives with TCS (Traction Control System), LED flashers and new color.
Based on the FZ-Fi, another 150cc bike sold there, but with some ‘adventurous’ features, the 2023 FZ-X now comes with TCS as standard, which controls the ignition timing and fuel injection volume to instantly adjust engine power output to avoid excessive slippage.
In addition, the new model is equipped with LED flashers, which complements the set that already has an bi-functional LED projector in the headlight, DRL (daytime running light) and LED taillight. Therefore, the lighting is Full-LED.
Finally, the model gained a new color option: Dark Matte Blue with golden color wheels, making this versatile bike much more desirable. The other available color options are Matte Copper and Matte Black.
How is the FZ-X
The 2023 Yamaha FZ-X has a design very similar to the brand’s ‘Sport Heritage’ line, which features models such as XSR125, XSR155, XSR700 and XSR900.
It is considered by the brand as ‘neo-retro’, with some elements with a retro design, for example, the round headlamp and the flat seat.
Despite this, it brings modern features, such as LED lighting in the headlight and taillight, and a fully digital panel with connection to a Smartphone, through the Y-CONNECT APP.
To be fit for adventures, it is equipped with front fork protectors (also known as ‘boots’), dual purpose tires (but with aluminum alloy wheels) and monocross suspension at the rear. Therefore, it is capable of running on ‘open roads’ (asphalt, dirt, gravel) without worry.
Engine and technology
The 2023 Yamaha FZ-X is equipped with an air-cooled 149 cm³ single cylinder engine, capable of generating up to 12.4 HP (9.1 kW) of maximum power and 1.4 kgfm (13.3 Nm) of torque. The transmission is 5-speed, the fuel tank capacity is 10 liters and the weight in running order (Kerb) is 139 kg.
In addition, it features brake disc on both axles, with single-channel ABS at the front, and a side stand engine cut-off switch, which automatically shuts off the engine when engaged for extra safety.
Anyway, the 2023 Yamaha FZ-X is available in Dark Matte Blue, Matte Copper and Matte Black, with prices starting at INR 135,900 Ex-Showroom Delhi (about US$ 1,640).
