2022 Yamaha TMAX gets a new sporty look in Europe

Share:

Yamaha introduced in Europe the 2022 TMAX, its 560cc Sport Scooter, which arrives with a new sportier look, as well as suspension and wheel updates.

The new 2022 TMAX has a more compact body, with more aggressive lines and well defined angles. The front has been completely updated, with new air intakes and new headlights, which feature LED lighting and integrated turn signals.

In addition to its new ‘face’, the TMAX features an all-new adjustable windshield that contributes to its new compact look and improves ride quality, with good protection from wind and rain.

To honor the original model launched in 2001 and which totally transformed the market, the new TMAX will be available in Extreme Yellow. This strong and bold color will always be associated with the world’s first Sport Scooter. It will also be available in Icon Blue and Sword Gray.

Chassis

The 2022 TMAX has been given new extremely lightweight ‘Spin Forged’ 10-spoke wheels that reduce unsprung weight for more responsive suspension action. They are equipped with new Bridgestone Battlax SC2 tires that were developed along with Yamaha’s exclusive Spin Forged wheels and revised suspension configuration.

Speaking of suspension, the front has a 41 mm USD fork and a single link-type shock absorber at the rear. These are motorcycle-style suspensions that offer class-leading handling characteristics and excellent stability at all speeds. For 2022, revised suspension settings have been developed to provide a greater degree of forward feel combined with improved agility.

Finally, it has a double disc brake at the front, with radially mounted, opposite 4-piston front brake calipers.

Engine and technology

The 2022 TMAX features a liquid-cooled, 562 cm³, parallel-twin cylinder engine capable of generating up to 35 kW (47 HP) of maximum power at 7,500 rpm and 55.7 Nm (5.6 kgfm) of torque at 5,250 rpm.

Europe’s number one Sport Scooter gets the full package of ‘ride-by-wire’ technology in the form of a new Accelerator Position Sensor Grip (APSG), which is linked to the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T).

In addition, it has Traction Control, Riding Modes, Full-LED lighting, 7-inch color TFT fully digital panel, Smartphone connection, Full-map Garmin Navigation, keyless ignition (Smart Key) and aviation-type fuel cap with electric operation.

Conclusion

The standard TMAX model is not available in the UK. There, the top-of-the-line 2022 TMAX Tech MAX version will be available in two colors: Dark Petrol and Power Grey.

Deliveries to European Yamaha dealers will begin in March 2022. Pricing varies by region, so please contact your national Yamaha distributor for complete information.
