How is 2022 MT-09
The 2022 Yamaha MT-09 got a major upgrade in 2021, when it arrived with a bigger engine, to meet the new Euro 5 pollutant emissions standard.
In addition, it gained a new front optical set, adopting the LED cannon (projector) for the high and low headlights, in addition to two vertical LED lines on the sides of the headlight for the daytime running lights (DRL).
As mentioned, all lighting is LED, that is, headlights, flashlights and turn signals rely on this technology. Still regarding the design, it received a new tank with new lines and new air intakes, as well as plate support on the rear tail. The instrument panel is fully digital in 3.5-inch color TFT.
The MT-09 got, in the latest update, a cast aluminum frame, new compact 6-axis IMU – which manages the tilt-sensitive 3-mode Traction Control System (TCS), Slip Control System (SCS), LIFt Front Wheel Control (LIF – rear control) and Brake Control System (BC), – and new QSS – Quick Shift System.
In addition, it has been equipped with new SpinForged wheels (which weigh 700g less than the previous model), adjustable suspension, and radial front brake master cylinder.
The 2022 Yamaha MT-09 remains with the same engine as the previous model, that is, CP3 with 3-cylinders and 890 cm³ with liquid cooling, capable of generating up to 87.5 kW (119 HP) of maximum power at 10.000 rpm, and 93 Nm (9.5 kgfm) of torque at 7,000 rpm. In Europe, there is also a version for A2 license, with a maximum (restricted) power of 35 kW (47 HP) and 70 kW (94 HP) for the unrestricted version.
It has 6-speed gearbox, the fuel tank capacity is 14 liters, the weight in running order (Kerb) is 189 kg and the tire sizes are as follows: 120/7017 at the front and 180/55-17 at the rear.
Anyway, in addition to the new Cyan Storm color, the 2022 MT-09 is available in Icon Blue (with blue wheels) and Tech Black (completely black).
