2022 Kawasaki Z650RS is launched: retro design in a modern body
Kawasaki launched in Europe the 2022 Z650RS, its new model with a retro design but with a modern body, based on the Z650, its medium displacement ‘naked’ motorcycle.
The 2022 Z650RS ‘copied its bigger sister’, the Z900RS, with retro elements like the round headlight, round instrument panels, drop-shaped fuel tank and ‘duck tail’ shaped rear.
According to the company, it was inspired by the 1977 Z650-B1, and the green paintwork and details are a ‘faithful reproduction’ of the aforementioned model. In addition, the rear and side covers also pay homage to the 1977 bike.
Finally, the ‘icing on the cake’ in the green model is the gold painted wheels. It also has some chrome elements, such as the bezel of the headlamp and dials. The gray model comes out with black wheels and bronze details and pinstripes.
Engine, chassis and technology
The engine of the 2022 Z650RSis the same as the ‘naked’ Z650, that is, 649 cm³ parallel 2-cylinders with liquid cooling, capable of generating up to 68 HP of maximum power and 6.7 kgfm / 67 Nm of torque. But, according to the company, it has been tuned for better response at low and medium revs. The gearbox is 6 speeds and has an assist and slipper clutch.
In addition, it has a steel trellis frame, 41 mm front suspension, horizontal back-link rear suspension, spoke-style cast wheels, 300 mm double brake disc at the front and Bosch ABS.
Finally, the lighting is Full-LED and the instrument panel has an analogue speedometer and tachometer and a negative LCD screen in the center.
The 2022 Z650RS is available in three different colors: Candy Emerald Green, Metallic Moondust Gray / Ebony and Metallic Spark Black.
