Ducati launched in Italy the new 2022 Diavel 1260 S ‘Black and Steel’. It arrives with a refined and asymmetrical graphic that combines a lot of glossy gray and matte black with yellow accents.
The Diavel 1260 combines the performance of a ‘supernaked’ motorcycle with the ergonomics of a ‘muscle cruiser’. Its design reinterprets the Diavel style in a contemporary tone.
The 2022 Ducati Diavel 1260 S ‘Black and Steel’ is a motorcycle that has glossy gray and matte black as the main colors, to which sporty touches in yellow are added.
Among them, the trellis frame, the lower part of the rear (tail), the exclusive seat fitting and some graphic details stand out.
It is inspired by the Diavel “Materico” concept presented in 2019 at the “Beautiful Boldness / Visionary Design” event during Milan Design Week.
The muscular lines at the front and aerodynamic rear, together with the 240mm rear tire, give the Diavel 1260 S a strong and unmistakable character.
Engine and Gearbox
The 2022 Ducati Diavel 1260 S ‘Black and Steel’ has the Euro 5 approved 1262 cm³ Testastretta DVT engine with liquid cooling, capable of generating up to 162 HP (119 kW) of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 129 Nm / 13.2 kgfm of torque.
Thanks to the Desmodromic Variable Timing (DVT) system, the engine guarantees very linear and powerful torque delivery at low revs, with the performance of a sports engine at high revs.
Furthermore, the engine of the Diavel 1260 is characterized by an extremely refined design that, thanks to the positioning of the water pump inside the V of the cylinders, does not have the cooling system tubes on the left side.
The Testastretta DVT 1262 is equipped with the Dual Spark (DS) system, that is, with two spark plugs for each cylinder, and uses a secondary air system that introduces fresh air into the exhaust duct to complete the oxidation of unburned hydrocarbons.
It is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox and Ducati QuickShift (DQS), for gear changes (up and down) without the need to engage the clutch.
The 2022 Ducati Diavel 1260 S ‘Black and Steel’ has a steel trellis frame, which uses the engine as a stressed element of the chassis.
The “power cruiser” ergonomics and riding position features a low seat with high handlebars.
Moreover, it is equipped with a fully adjustable 48 mm Öhlins inverted front suspension and a fully adjustable Öhlins shock absorber at the rear.
The wheels are 17 inches, with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires measuring 120/70-17 at the front and 240/45-17 at the rear.
It is also equipped with double 320 mm semi-floating brake discs at the front, with 4-piston Brembo M50 radial calipers.
In terms of technology, the 2022 Ducati Diavel 1260 S ‘Black and Steel’ features Riding Modes, Power Modes, Cornering ABS, Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Launch Control and Cruise Control.
In addition, it features Full-LED lighting, 3.5 inch color TFT full digital panel and multimedia system.
