2021 Ducati Monster unveiled: new engine, frame and design
Ducati unveiled in Italy the new 2021 Monster, which arrives with a new engine (bigger and more powerful), new aluminum frame (replacing the steel trellis) and new design.
Now, the model changes its name to ‘Monster’ and its engine is 937 cm³. There is, therefore, no number complementing the name, indicative of the model’s cubic capacity (it was Monster 821).
The highlight of the new 2021 Ducati Monster is the new aluminum front chassis, based on the superbike Panigale V4. With it, together with the new rear swingarm, also in aluminum, in addition to other improvements, it was possible to reduce 18 kg of total weight in relation to the Monster 821.
The rear auxiliary chassis was made with a modern technology, called GFRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer), helping with weight loss.
The new design maintains the DNA of the Monster line, being simple and clean, keeping only “the essentials for fun”. The lighthouse is new and features a design reminiscent of MV Agusta Brutale. The turn signals (in LED) have been integrated into the sides of the motorcycle.
Seat height
The ground clearance of the new Monster is 820 mm. This, combined with the narrow sides of the bike, makes it possible to put your feet on the ground very easily.
A lower seat is available as an accessory, and reduces the height from the ground to 800 mm, maintaining good padding.
And, for those who want, a simple suspension kit can be purchased that lowers the vehicle further reducing the seat height to 775 mm from the ground.
That is, the new 2021 Monster was made for all physical types.
Mechanics and electronic
Ducati Monster brings the new 937 cm³ Testastretta 11° L-twin engine, with desmodromic distribution and Euro5 approved. It is now capable of generating up to 111 HP of maximum power at 9,250 rpm with a maximum torque of 9.5 kgfm / 93Nm delivered to only 6,500 rpm.
In addition, the model is equipped with a new gearbox with hydraulic clutch, and Ducati Quick Shift Up / Down as standard.
Standard electronic equipment includes Cornering ABS, Traction Control and Wheelie Control, all adjustable for different levels of intervention. The sporty character of the bike is also underlined by the Launch Control, which guarantees extremely fast departures.
Accessories and customizations
To allow each “Monsterista” to make his bike even more exclusive, adhesive kits have been created to enhance the Monster’s shape and celebrate Ducati’s sportiness.
For those who want to accentuate the style of their Monster in an even more decisive way, kits with even richer graphics were also created.
As with all Ducati motorcycles, a wide range of Ducati Performance accessories is also available: for example, the Termignoni approved double muffler with carbon fiber caps and the tip in the same color as the paint.
Finally, Ducati Monster ‘fights’ in the ‘supernaked’ segment, a category that has Triumph Street Triple, KTM 790 Duke, Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900, among others.
