2023 Yamaha AUGUR: the smart scooter of the future?

Share:

Yamaha launched the 2023 AUGUR in Taiwan, its 155cc scooter, which arrives with a distinctive design and next-generation technology to be the smart scooter of the future.

According to the company, the new model sets a new standard in the up to 160cc segment, with features usually only seen on high-displacement motorcycles, in addition to innovative technologies.

The main highlight of the AUGUR scooter is its headlight with Y-LLA (Yamaha Lean Light Assist) technology, the cornering light present in premium motorcycles. When the system detects a vehicle inclination, it triggers a beam aimed at that curve and the brightness is adjusted according to the angle of inclination. When returning to its normal position, this supplementary light is automatically turned off.

In addition, this scooter features the so-called Y-AU (Yamaha Adjustable Color Temperature Unit), an innovative technology that allows you to change the color temperature of the headlight, between cold white and warm white (3000K to 6500K), improving riding in different climatic conditions such as rain and fog, among others.

The design of the Yamaha AUGUR is also something that does not go unnoticed: it has simple and extremely tense curved surfaces with precise details, which together with the functional design of the miniaturized ICON ‘astral’ headlight, conveys a vision of the world of the near future.

Engine and technology

The 2023 Yamaha AUGUR has the same base as the NMAX 155 scooter, featuring the same liquid-cooled 155cc single-cylinder engine, SOHC 4 valves and VVA technology, which is capable of generating up to 15.4 hp of maximum power and 14 Nm of torque.

In addition, it has a complete package of current technology, such as Traction Control, ABS, 4.3-inch color TFT digital panel, Smartphone connection via Bluetooth, smart key, and USB QC 3.0 charging port.
