BMW launched in Europe and America, the 2022 model of the K 1600 GT, K 1600 GTL, K 1600 B and K 1600 Grand America, its luxury cruisers. They arrive with an revised engine to comply with Euro5 anti-pollution standards, in addition to electronic suspension, Full-LED lighting, color TFT panel and audio system 2.0.

The K 1600 GT represents the agile and dynamic variant of the six-cylinder design, while the K 1600 GTL, with its more comfortable ergonomics and standard top case, is more for a pleasurable driving experience.

The K 1600 B is a ‘bagger’ that represents elegance, power and luxury on two wheels and allows the rider to experience every road, every ride and every moment in an intense way.

Finally, derived from the K 1600 B, the K 1600 Grand America finally combines the superior performance of the inline six-cylinder engine with unique equipment features that make long-distance tours in American highway cruising style an experience that is as comfortable as it is fascinating, both alone or with a partner.

EU-5 compliant engine

The new K 1600 GT, GTL, B and Grand America, use the six-cylinder engine that has been adapted to current EU-5 regulations. As a result, there was a great reduction in pollutant emissions. Furthermore, there was an improvement in performance numbers, with maximum power remaining at 118 kW (160 HP), but reaching at 6,750 rpm, ie 1,000 rpm earlier than before.

Another positive point was the increase in the maximum torque from 175 Nm to 180 Nm at 5250 rpm. Even more superior pulling power and even more powerful acceleration are the noticeable positive effects for the rider.

Engine drag torque control (MSR) is another new component. With it, unstable riding conditions, which can occur in deceleration mode or when downshifting due to excessive rear wheel slip, can be safely avoided.

Technology

All versions of the BMW K 1600 2022 have received the BMW Motorrad Dynamic ESA “Next Generation” (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), which allows for an improvement in driving safety, performance and comfort, as the damping is automatically adapted to the driving and maneuvering conditions, and there is also automatic compensation of the driving position in all load states.

Another novelty in the models is the presence of Full-LED lighting, and the headlights are adaptive, that is, the LED low beam is transformed into a curved headlamp according to the steering angle. The curves are therefore almost fully illuminated because the light illuminates where the motorcycle is moving.

In addition, the 2022 K 1600 GT, K 1600 GTL, K 1600 B and K 1600 Grand America have gained a 10.25-inch color TFT all-digital dashboard with integrated GPS navigation, plus easy-to-use route planning and Smartphone connectivity as default.

Finally, with the audio system 2.0, the new K 1600 GTL and K 1600 Grand America offer an even more intense sound experience as standard. The audio system is available as optional factory equipment for the K 1600 GT and K 1600 B.
