Aprilia Tuareg 660 unveiled: extreme off-road bike aimed at Yamaha Ténéré 700
Aprilia unveiled its newest bike, this time an extreme off-road, the Tuareg 660. Using the Aprilia 660 platform, it targets the Yamaha Ténéré 700, offering performance in all conditions (on asphalt or dirt).
With the same platform used in the RS 660 and Tuono 660, the Tuareg 660 incorporates all the highlights of these models in a package for any type of terrain.
The design is very characteristic of rally models, with a slim body, flat and narrow seat and almost vertical windshield. The front optical assembly may be a little strange, as it tries to simulate the aforementioned sport bikes.
But the most important thing is its off-road capability, and the Tuareg 660 deliver the expected. It features off-road suspensions, with a 43 mm inverted front fork and long 240 mm travel.
Another highlight of the model is its low weight. It has a dry weight of only 187 kg which, according to the brand, is a benchmark for the sector in terms of lightness.
In addition, it arrives full of technology: it has 4 riding modes (two can be customized, and one is dedicated to off-road), and the ABS can be turned off on both wheels or just in the rear. Traction control, cruise control, engine mapping and engine brake control complete the package.
Speaking of engine, it is a 660 cc parallel-twin with a maximum power of 80 HP and up to 70 Nm of peak torque, with a significantly increased low/mid range curve. Just for comparison, the Yamaha Ténéré 700 has 72 HP of maximum power and 68 Nm of torque.
Finally, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 has LED lighting, a 5″ colored TFT digital panel and an 18 liter fuel tank.
