How is the Z400

The Z400 arrived to replace the Z300, and it was developed together with the sporty Ninja 400, sharing many elements, including the 399 cm³ engine.

The design is based on the bigger ‘sister’ Z650, maintaining the brand’s Sugomi concept. There is a balance between defined angles with an aggressive and sporty look, characteristic of Kawasaki’s ‘supernaked’.

In addition, the headlights and flashlights are LED and the dashboard has an analog tachometer with a multifunctional LCD screen. Unfortunately the turn signals (blinkers) are not LED.

Engine and chassis

The 2023 Z400 has a 399 cm³ in-line twin-cylinder engine with liquid cooling, capable of generating up to 48 HP of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 28.0 lb-ft / 38.2 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. The transmission is a 6-speed equipped with assist and slipper clutch.

In addition, it is equipped with 41mm forks at the front and Uni Trak Bottom-Link shock absorber at the rear, as well as 17-inch wheels equipped with tires measuring 110/70-17 at the front and 150/60-17 at the rear. The front brake disc is 310 mm, the same size used in the Z1000, with a dual-piston caliper and ABS system.

Finally, the 2023 Kawasaki Z400 ABS arrives with a renewed color scheme to continue fighting in the middleweight ‘naked’ segment that, in addition to the Kawasaki model, has the Yamaha MT-03, Honda CB 500F and BMW G 310 R, among others.
