2022 Yamaha R15 V4 and R15M comes with R7 design, traction control and Quick Shifter
Yamaha launched in India the 2022 model of the R15 V4 and R15M, its small 155cc sports bike, which comes with R7 design, assist and slipper clutch, traction control and Quick Shifter system.
The differences between the R15 V4 and the R15M are that the latter features a 3D ‘R15M’ logo, front suspension top cover engraved with the ‘R15M’ logo, special seat, golden colored brake caliper, and rear swingarm and exhaust muffler guard painted in gray.
The 2022 Yamaha R15 V4 and R15M have gained a new design based on the new R7 which, in turn, is based on the YZF-R6, and called by the brand ‘R-Series DNA’. The lines are fluid with an aggressive front, achieved with two lines for the LED DRL.
In addition, the high and low beam is a unique LED cannon, and is positioned inside the front air intake (in ‘M’ shape, similar to MotoGP‘s YZR-M1).
The new rear is similar to that of the R7 and YZF-R6, with aerodynamic ‘tunnels’ on the sides that act as passenger handles and ‘wings’ for increased downforce.
Engine and technology
The engine of the 2022 R15M and R15 Version 4 is a 155 cm³ single cylinder with liquid cooling, 4 valves, SOHC, and VVA technology, capable of generating up to 13.5 kW (18.4 HP) of maximum power at 10,000 rpm, and 14.2 Nm (1.42 kgfm) of torque at 7,500 rpm.
It is also equipped with Traction Control, which prevents the rear wheel from slipping when accelerating, and a Quick Shifter system, which allows for upward gear changes without the need to actuate the clutch (standard on the R15M and R15 V4 Racing Blue color).
The gearbox is 6-speed equipped with an assist and slipper clutch, which reduces the weight on the lever, in addition to preventing the rear wheel from slipping (locking) in sudden gear reductions.
Finally, it features a golden USD front suspension, aluminum rear swingarm, two-channel ABS brakes, 140mm wide rear tire, LED headlights, flashlights and DRL, and a fully digital LCD panel.
Prices and colors
The 2022 Yamaha R15 V4 is offered in India in Racing Blue, Dark Knight and Metallic Red, starting from Rs. 167,800 Ex-Showroom Delhi (approximately US $2,277).
The 2022 Yamaha R15M comes out in Metallic Gray and Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition (based on Metallic Black), starting from Rs. 177,800 Ex-Showroom Delhi (US $2,413).
