WorldSBK | Toprak Razgatlioglu Dominates Emilia-Romagna Round and Takes Leadership
Toprak Razgatlioglu, BMW Motorrad rider in the WorldSBK Superbike Championship, dominated the Emilia-Romagna round, held at the Misano circuit, and took the lead of the championship.
The Turk completed the so-called hat-trick, that is, he won all three races of the weekend, giving BMW its first triple victory in history.
It didn’t work for the reigning champion Alvaro Bautista (Ducati), much less for his teammate and rookie Nicolo Bulega (Ducati). Toprak dominated ‘at Ducati’s home’.
Bautista didn’t have a good feeling with the bike throughout the weekend, but he managed third place in the two main races, race 1 and race 2. In the Superpole race, he crashed and didn’t score any points.
Bulega, on the other hand, performed much better, and led the races for several laps, but was unable to hold or keep up with Toprak’s pace, finishing in second place.
Toprak showed that he is already well-acquainted with the bike and, even so, he said that this is just the beginning, as he expects better performance in the next rounds.
This is very bad news for the competition because, if they are not able to keep him now, imagine if he has something else in his pocket.
The championship standings are as follows:
Position | Rider | Bike | Points |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Toprak Razgatlioglu | BMW | 179 |
2 | Nicolo Bulega | Ducati | 158 |
3 | Alvaro Bautista | Ducati | 155 |
4 | Alex Lowes | Kawasaki | 124 |
5 | Andrea Locatelli | Yamaha | 94 |
6 | Andrea Iannone | Ducati | 83 |
7 | Remy Gardner | Yamaha | 72 |
8 | Michael Van Der Mark | BMW | 66 |
9 | Danilo Petrucci | Ducati | 65 |
10 | Dominique Aegerter | Yamaha | 46 |
Anyway, the WorldSBK returns from July 12th to 14th, with the UK round, at the Donington Park circuit.
