Introducing the 2024 Honda CMX500 Rebel: New Colors, Same Rebel Spirit
Honda has introduced the 2024 version of the CMX500 Rebel, the iconic 500cc custom bobber motorcycle. While it comes with fresh paint options, the mechanical components remain consistent with the previous model.
The 2024 CMX500 Rebel is now available in Seal Silver Metallic, Matt Laurel Green Metallic, and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. In addition, the ‘S’ version is still available, which adds some accessories such as headlight fairing and diamond-style seat stitching, in the new Pearl Shining Black color.
When it comes to its mechanical components, the 2024 Honda CMX500 Rebel remains steadfast with the tried-and-true setup introduced in 2020. This includes a EURO5-compliant 471cc twin-cylinder engine, updated suspensions, a comprehensive Full-LED lighting system, a dashboard-equipped gear indicator, an assist and slipper clutch for smooth gear shifts, and an ergonomically improved seat for enhanced comfort.
The CMX500 Rebel stands as a prime example of minimalistic design with clean, uncluttered lines. This custom bobber exudes its distinctive style through the positioning of the fuel tank and, notably, its broad tires. At the front, you’ll find beefy 130/90-16 tires, and at the rear, it’s equipped with substantial 150/80-16 rubber.
Furthermore, the ‘S’ variant of this model boasts a compact headlight fairing, a front suspension protector with a retro-inspired design, and an elegantly diamond-stitched seat for added sophistication.
Lastly, the CMX500 Rebel seamlessly blends modern LED lighting technology with a touch of classic aesthetics. You’ll notice a round headlight, dashboard, and turn signals that exude a timeless charm. At the rear, the taillight takes on a horizontal design with gently curved sides, reminiscent of a pill shape, to complete the distinctive look.
Engine and technology
The engine of the 2024 CMX500 Rebel is a liquid cooled 471 cm³ twin-cylinder, capable of generating up to 34 kW (45.6 HP) of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 43.3Nm (4.4 kgfm) of torque at 6,000 rpm.
This engine is shared with the adventurous CB 500X model, but it has undergone fine-tuning in fuel injection mapping and adjustments to valve and ignition timing. These changes prioritize low-end torque, resulting in a power delivery that is both smooth and consistent across the entire rev range.
It works with a 6-speed transmission, complemented by an assist and slipper clutch for seamless gear shifts. The 16-inch wheels provide stability, and when it comes to braking, the CMX500 Rebel boasts a front 296mm brake disc paired with two-piston calipers, backed by a two-channel ABS system for secure stopping power.
The CMX500 Rebel sports a fully digital instrument panel, highlighted by a negative LCD screen with a crisp white backlight. Notably, it incorporates a gear position indicator and a fuel consumption display for added functionality.
Finally, a range of Honda Genuine Accessories are available both individually or as part of the ‘comfort’ or ‘travel’ packs, including passenger backrest, adjustable brake lever and 12V socket.
In summary, the 2024 Honda CMX500 Rebel is more than just a motorcycle; it’s a statement, an expression of your individuality. With its new color options and unwavering rebel spirit, it continues to be the ideal ride for those who crave the extraordinary.
