GWM enters the motorcycle segment and reveals model with 2,000cc 8-cylinder engine
Now it’s official. GWM (Great Wall Motor), well known for its cars, mainly electric and hybrids, has just entered the motorcycle segment with its Souo brand.
The Chinese company revealed its first model, the S2000, in GL and ST versions, which comes with a huge 2,000cc 8-cylinder flat engine.
Yes, that’s right my friends. The model is equipped with a giant engine to try to be better than the Honda GL 1800 Gold Wing Tour, its main competitor and inspiration. The Honda model has a 1,833cc, 6-cylinder engine.
The Chinese model’s engine, in addition to having 8 cylinders, also has 8 gears in its DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) gearbox. It’s also more than the Honda, which has a 7-speed DCT transmission.
In terms of design, we can say that the Souo S2000 is heavily inspired by the Honda GL 1800 Gold Wing Tour, but also by models from Harley-Davidson and even BMW, with its K 1600 GTL.
It is a touring motorcycle, prepared for the road and long distances. The GT version is complete, with side cases, top box and seat with backrest for the pillion. The ST version only has side cases, a competitor to the BMW K 1600 B.
Anyway, the company has not yet released the technical details and this information is expected to come out in a few months with the start of production.
