Ducati has announced that it has started production of the 2023 Multistrada V4 Rally, its extreme grand tourer motorcycle, at the Borgo Panigale factory.

The new bike completes a touring range that has never been so extensive and which was born exactly 20 years ago with the first Multistrada 1000 that marked the opening of Ducati towards the world of travel.

Ready for the toughest roads, especially unpaved ones, the 2023 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally features semi-active suspensions with 200mm travel, Skyhook DSS EVO control strategy, spoked wheels, reinforced engine protection bars, auto-leveling function, new Power Mode dedicated to off-road and aluminum fuel tank with 30 liters of capacity.

According to the company, the Multistrada V4 Rally is the ideal motorcycle for traveling as a couple and was designed to take the comfort of the rider and travel companion to the highest level. For this, it was equipped with a new, taller and wider windshield, the tail was lengthened and the rear top case attachment was set back to offer more space in the leg area for the passenger. In addition, it features different heights for the seat and a lowered suspension kit to suit any rider and passenger combination.

Security and technology

The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally has the same safety features and technology present in the family, with emphasis on the front and rear radar system, to support Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD), ABS Cornering, Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Ducati Traction Control (DTC).

In addition, it has the Enduro Riding Mode with dedicated Power Mode: selecting Enduro mode activates a dedicated Power Mode, which limits engine power to 114 hp with a dynamic and direct response. Traction Control switches to a lower intervention level and DWC is deactivated. ABS on the rear wheel is also deactivated and cornering functionality and rear lift detection are suppressed to suit off-road use.

Engine and chassis

The engine of the Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally is the 1,158cc Granturismo V4, which is capable of generating up to 170 hp (125 kW) of maximum power at 10,750 rpm and 121 Nm (12.3 kgm) of torque at 8,750 rpm.

Another technology present in this model is the brand new extended deactivation strategy for the rear cylinders which, in addition to turning off the rear cylinders at idle when the motorcycle is stationary, keeps them deactivated in other operating conditions, to save fuel and reduce emissions.

Finally, it continues with the Multistrada V4’s lightweight, compact aluminum monocoque frame with aluminum die-cast double-sided swingarm.

Versions and availability

The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally will be offered in three versions: Adventure Radar, equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection, Adventure Travel & Radar, which adds aluminum side bags, heated grips and seats, and the Full Adventure, which brings in addition to the previous items, an Akrapovič silencer and a carbon fiber front fender.
