Can-Am, a Canadian brand of on- and off-road vehicles and part of the BRP Group, has just launched the Pulse and Origin electric motorcycles, two models with distinct characteristics that are here to try to make the company the world leader in the electric motorcycle category.

“Today, we are reclaiming our two-wheel heritage by bringing new excitement to the electric motorcycle industry,” said José Boisjoli, President and CEO of BRP. “50 years ago, Can-Am celebrated many victories with its Track ‘n Trail motorcycles, and we are bringing that pedigree back with a focus on modern electric power, connectivity and thrill. We intend to become a global leader in that space with true innovation designed to simplify the riding experience for new riders and introduce electric motorcycles to all.”

The Can-Am Pulse is the ‘naked’ electric motorcycle aimed at urban use. It has a very modern design and features a huge 10.25-inch TFT color touchscreen digital panel.

The Can-Am Origin is an on/off-road motorcycle designed for adventures and difficult terrain. It has a high, long-travel suspension, great ground clearance, spoked wheels and dual purpose tires.

Both models are equipped with an 8.9 kWh battery, with liquid cooling, which allows a range of 160 km (100 miles) on the Pulse and 145 km (90 miles) on the Origin.

The central electric motor, also with liquid cooling, has a maximum peak power of 35 kW (47 hp) and torque of 72 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (60 mph) happens in just 3.8 seconds.

The starting prices announced are as follows: 2025 Can-Am Pulse, US$ 13,999; 2025 Can-Am Origin, US$ 14,499.

Anyway, the Can-Am Pulse and Origin are two modern electric motorcycles that perform well in their categories. Whether they can take the brand to the top of the world rankings remains to be seen.
