Ducati Monster Senna Limited Edition is Launched in Honor of the Three-time F1 World Champion
Ducati has launched a special, limited edition of its Monster motorcycle in honor of the late and talented three-time F1 World Champion Ayrton Senna.
Named Monster Senna, the model features the iconic colors used by Senna on his helmet for years when he competed in the F1 Grand Prix. The colors, of course, are a reference to the Brazilian flag, yellow, green and blue.
Ducati says that only 341 units will be produced and made available to collectors. This number has a special meaning: 3 refers to the number of titles won by Senna; 41 refers to the number of victories achieved by Senna in GPs, that is, the number of times he stepped on the highest place on the podium.
Aytorn Senna and Ducati have always had a good relationship, with the Brazilian being a fan of the Italian brand’s bikes. He was one of the first to own a Ducati 900 series, the Ducati 916, which he used whenever he was in Monte Carlo.
But this wasn’t the first Ducati in his life. He was given a Ducati 851 SP by the Ducati owner at the time, Claudio Castiglioni. Castiglioni was also a fan of Senna and his talent.
In the following years, a partnership between the Senna brand and Ducati was formed and some models were launched. With this, the Ducati 916 Senna was created, launched in 1994, the year of the fateful accident that took the life of the Brazilian F1 driver. Two more series of this bike were launched in 1997 and 1998.
In 2014, a special version of the 1199 Panigale appeared, with only 161 units produced and sold only in the Brazilian market. 161 is the number of Grand Prix contested by Senna.
Anyway, the Monster Senna features, in addition to the colors, some additional details, such as the yellow/green/blue label on the black wheels, the brake calipers painted yellow, and the Termignoni carbon fiber exhaust silencer.
And, of course, each one comes with a numbered plate, a certificate of authenticity and a motorcycle cover.
