Yamaha launched in Europe the 2021 TRACER 9, its high-displacement Sport Touring. It comes with a new name (it was TRACER 900), a new design and a bigger 890cc engine.

The 2021 Yamaha TRACER 9 brings a ‘new generation’ design and style, compact and aerodynamic, with a front optical assembly ‘inspired’ by the MT-125 and the supersport YZF-R1.

The upper part with daylight running light (DRL) has a design and arrangement close to that of the “small” naked MT-125. The LED cannons (high and low headlights) comes from the YZF-R1.

In addition, it has larger side fairings, increasing aerodynamics and providing greater protection against wind and rain. Comfort is greater on long journeys, aided by the tall windshield.

Now, all lighting is now LED (headlights, flashlights and turn signals), and the panel is fully digital in colored TFT (actually two panels, left and right, 3.5 inches each). While the left screen displays important operational information, such as speed, rpm, gear and riding assistance mode, the right screen shows non-critical data, including odometer, temperature, Trip 1 and Trip 2.

New mechanics

The 2021 Yamaha TRACER 9 arrives with new mechanics, including a new larger 890cc engine, new chassis and new forged wheels.

The engine is the new CP3 (3-cylinders in line) 889 cm³ with liquid cooling, capable of generating up to 119 HP of maximum power and 9.4 kgfm / 92Nm of torque. In addition, it has optimized gear ratios and refined assist and slip clutch.

The chassis is new, CF Deltabox in aluminum, along with a redesigned aluminum rear scale, 64mm larger. Together, they provide excellent stability at high speeds, without compromising agility.

The new forged aluminum wheels weigh 700g less than the previous generation, helping to reduce the total weight of the model.

The 41mm inverted front suspension and monoshock rear suspension are fully adjustable, allowing you to achieve the best ‘set-up’.

In terms of technology, the 2021 TRACER 9 is now equipped with some of the most advanced electronic features for riders, which offer more confidence and precise control in different climatic and road surface conditions.

Developed from the supersport YZF-R1M, the compact 6-axis IMU manages a tilt-sensitive 3-mode Traction Control System (TCS), as well as a Slip Control System (SCS), LIFt Wheel Control System front (LIF) and Brake Control (BC) system.
